Well it's that time of year...again. We just finished Thanksgiving this past week and now we're on to the mad rush of Christmas. Christmas music playing, Christmas trees sparkling with lights, yard decorations up and illuminating the sky, it's a magical time of year.
How did it get here so dang fast is what i want to know????
I feel overwhelmed a bit as it feels like we just did the Christmas Holidays. I'll survive and make it through and am almost finished Christmas shopping, WOOHOO, but seriously! PHEW! I am just hoping to be able to sit and relax and enjoy this season a little more than last year, think that is possible? LOL! I sure hope so, should be a good Christmas for our house.

My Girls

First day of School 2010
Well yesterday was the first day of school for our school district, and I have bittersweet feelings about it too.
Juliana is now 11 and started the 6th grade today at Clear Lake Intermediate School. Between remembering where 8 classes are, a locker combination and dealing with the 7th and 8th graders, it's going to be a challenge, but a challenge, Juliana seems up to tackling. She is also in band for the first time and going to try and play the Clarinet. That will make it fun also. Her afternoon report at the end of the day was "the lunch line was really long and I ate what I think was Chicken Fried steak, everyone said it was Chicken Fried Steak so i ate it...it was good." She also reported that they have a slushy machine and a pretzel cart. Oh it's the little things that brighten our days. LOL!
Bella is now 5 and started Kindergarten at Clear Lake Elementary School. She walked right into her classroom and waved at everyone as if to say "Hello kindergarten, I have arrived." She was thrown off at first by her name on her cubbie and name tag being Isabella, that threw her off for a minute. The teacher reassured her she would change it to Bella. She posed for the camera one last time and then we were on our way. Bella's end of day report was that she got a green for conduct and she got TWO stickers and most people only got 1. She said that getting 2 stickers meant that she got the bestest behavior ever. She was very proud of herself, as she should be.
I am very proud of our girls, I think we've done a pretty good job with them and will continue to do so. It hasn't been easy and the bumpy roads are still ahead, especially with Juliana and the onset of hormones, attitude, boys and just life kicking her in the butt, but hopefully with a little prayer, we will survive this also.
As I am very proud of them, it was a bitter sweet day for me, no more babies, they are all grown up and blossoming into 2 beautiful young ladies and it's somewhat sad for me as a mom. No more holding them in my lap and babying them like I use to. They will now start to spread their wings and pull away from the nest and start to be more independent and do more on their own insisting "I can do it, mom, I don't need help." Then I'll just be there to pick them up if/when they fall. I guess I am also moving to the next chapter of my life/job as mom.
It's going to be a transition for us all, god speed Ugalde Family! LOL!

My Aunt
My aunt passed away back on July 7, 2010 after a long battle with cancer. She will truly be missed. This weekend, July 31, 2010 was her memorial mass in Cecilia Louisiana, it was a nice service and I am glad we all got the chance to be there for that. However for me, this has been a difficult thing to digest, I'm still struggling. I guess what keeps me going are the memories and fun times from when i was a kid and spending my summers in Louisiana at my grandparents camp with my family and my aunt and her family, it was a blast. The memories of that family time will hold close to my heart forever. It's a reminder to me that life is short so make the best of every day and don't sweat the small stuff...ENJOY LIFE! My aunt was full of life and enjoyed life and the simple things in life, she would want everyone to do the same.
I know she is watching down on us and telling us to Dance (she loved dancing) and enjoy life and live it to the fullest and LOVE your family. Anyhow I love you Auntie and will miss you greatly! Rest in Peace!
Several people have asked me about sending flowers or giving something. My Uncle has stated that my Aunt would have said "please only send me flowers when I'm alive so I can enjoy them." My Uncle has asked those who want to do something to just make a donation to the Cancer foundation.

Kindergarten Registration
Okay so my youngest baby is officially registered for Kindergarten in the Fall of 2010, wow just exactly where did that time go please? Bella is growing up so fast I can't keep up. Such a wonderful spirited, fun loving happy child, Kindergarten is going to be an adventure, watch out Clear Lake City Elementary School!

Well my first baby "graduated" from 5th grade last week. What a bitter sweet emotional day it was for me. Some tears and lots of laughter and excitement as well as pride. Juliana has grown into such a wonderful, loving caring young lady and continues to amaze me everyday. Anyhow here are a few pictures of the day:

Our Dog is Named Barkley
Walt saw this in Sunday's (2/28/10) Houston Chronicle in the Dear Abby section and we both got a good laugh out of it...enjoy everyone! Maybe he's trying to really tell me something. LOL!

Updates, Updates and more updates!
I just struggle to keep up anymore (thanks Kristen for the reminder to post a blog, LOL!). Let's see what is going on with us.
Well Juliana went to District Science Fair and didn't win any ribbons or medals or anything, but i think just the fact that she place 1st in the school science fair and made it to district was a HUGE accomplishment. WAY TO GO JBUG!
We have a new cousin/niece/grandkid in the family, Sarah Nicole Hardwick was born January 27, 2010. We haven't been able to meet her yet as we've had sickies in our house and Sarah's big sister had to have tubes put in her ears again...it's been one thing or another. We hope to meet her soon though. I know Aunt Pam can't wait to spoil another one. :-)
Oh and Aunt Sissy is pregnant and having another little bean in September 2010, so that's more exciting news. Another one for Aunt Pam to spoil...more superhero capes to make. LOL!
Meanwhile, I have finally gotten brave and scheduled Lasik surgery for myself. I'm excited and nervous at the same time. However i must say, the longer i wear these glasses, the more the nervousness wears off and the excitement and eagerness to get it over with become more prevalent.
Bella is working on her sight words and reading...getting ready for kindergarten and being in "Bella's Big School". It will not longer be "Juju's Big School" it'll be Bella's. Juliana will be in 6th grade and a new school next year...what an adventure that will be.
Walt is bored and ready to get back into softball and exercising and getting active again. if it would ever stop raining maybe softball could start like it's supposed to in March, I hope so. :-)
I guess that's about it for now, the countdown has started for Juliana's DC trip, that should be fun for her.

1st Place in the School Science Fair!
Juliana placed first for Consumer Science in her school Science Fair. Next stop: District Science Fair in February. Congratulations Juliana, we are very proud of you and love you very much!

Cowdog Finds his way home!
Well a year or so ago, we're not really sure, Bella misplaces/lost her second favorite Lovie named "Cowdog". Lately everytime Bella got upset she would cry for her lost Cowdog and how much she missed him and how she just knew he missed her too. I mean big big tears over Cowdog.
Well, this past Monday (1/18/10) just as she was going to lay down to take a nap, the doorbell rang and low and behold when we opened the door there was Cowdog, he had found his way home. Bella has been so happy ever since, now her first favorite lovie, Blue Bebe, and Cowdog are bonding again and watching over Bella as she is watching over them and has tightened the leash on their whereabouts. LOL!
Note: Right before we found Cowdog at the front door, Juliana's friend Alex came over to play with Juliana, so that is why Bella says "Alex brought him over from her house" in the video below.
