Valentines Day Card

Here is the first card I made for Valentines Day.  I saw some black and white cards on Pinterest and those were my inspiration.  I love the black and white with the sparkly color.

Happy Halloween everyone!

2014-2015 School Year and life so far

WOW!  I am WAY behind on blogging that's for sure.  My last blog is from August 2013 when Juliana was starting 9th grade and Bella was starting 3rd grade.  A lot has changed since then for sure.

First of all it it now October 2014 and Juliana is in 10th grade, finishing up CLHS Falcon Marching Band season #2 and Bella is in 4th grade and in choir and has joined the Chess club at school.  Walt is the executive on loan to the Houston Technology Center and just excelling at his job like crazy.  I am still working my same job and leading 2 girl scout troops, mentoring a new Daisy troop and just trying to keep up with my family's schedule.

I need to get better at this blogging thing and maybe blog about an interest i have outside of the girls and Walt.  I wish i had more time to make my cards and scrapbooks, but spare time is far and few.  When i have spare time, I'm exhausted, LOL!

Anyhow below are pictures of the girls on their first days of 10th and 3rd grades this year.

First day of 9th and 3rd Grades

I just thought I'd start the ball rolling with the first day of school pictures and updates.

Juliana started 9th grade at Clear Lake High School and was a bit nervous this morning.  I'm sure once she walks through her schedule and gets back and forth from the 9th grade building to the main building, she'll feel better about things.  She has 3 classes in the main building; Medical Terminology, band and Spanish.  She's LOVING marching band and the first high school game is this Friday night in Deer Park.

The complete football schedule is as follows (all games start at 7 PM).  The games at CCISD stadium are home games:
Friday 8/30/13 - at deer park
Thursday 9/5/13 - at Pasadena memorial
Thursday 9/12/13 - at CCISD stadium - Baytown Sterling
Friday 9/20/13 - At Conroe
Friday 9/27/13 - At CCISD stadium - Clear Creek
Friday 10/4/13 - at CCISD stadium - Clear Brook
Friday 10/11/13 - At Brazoswood
Friday 10/18/13 - at CCISD Stadium - Clear Springs (homecoming game)
Friday 10/31/13 - at CCISD stadium - Clear Falls
Thursday 11/7/13 - at CCISD stadium - Dickinson (senior night)

Bella started 3rd grade is was a tad nervous this morning so she asked me to walk her in to her class.  She held my hand the whole way and was a little reluctant for me to leave, but when she walked into the classroom her friend Olivia (who she has known since preschool) greeted her and hugged her.  She will be starting softball soon (next week I think) so as soon as we hear her schedule, I'll pass it on to everyone, the Fall season ends before Thanksgiving, that much we know.

Anyhow that's the update and pictures from our house, I hope kindergarten drop off went well for Wade and Lauren and I hope we get to see some pictures, they are gonna ROCK kindergarten I'm sure!

Life's Rules

Just thought I'd share as a quick reminder for life:

Don’t work so hard that you miss your kids and families life: Simplify your life
Choose happiness, silliness and laughter
Stay in touch with friends
Express feelings so as to not settle for something you don’t want
Have the courage to live a life true to yourself, not the life others expect of you

Uvalde or Ugalde?

So while on vacation this summer, Walt wanted to take our family picture under the Uvalde sign.  Uvalde was actually named after a man with the last name Ugalde, however, along the way the name was changed to Uvalde due to either a misspelling or a misunderstanding with this Ugalde fellow.  Here is the history of the name and town as written by http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~txuvalde/ :

Created from Bexar County in 1850; re-created and reorganized in 1856. Named for the 1778 Governor of Coahuila and noted Indian fighter, Juan de Ugalde, with the name Anglicized. Uvalde County's most famous son was John Nance Garner, Vice-President of the United States under Franklin Roosevelt from 1933 to 1941. His nickname of "Cactus Jack" was earned through forthright comments such as the office of vice-president "isn't worth a bucket of warm spit." Uvalde County is located on the southwest side of the Texas Hill Country between Del Rio and San Antonio and the lands include parts of the Edwards Plateau and the Nueces River. The county seat is Uvalde, a small town at the crossroads of two of our nation's longest highways, US 90 and US 83, both of which extend from border to border. A host of historic, interesting and recreational sites make Uvalde a wonderful place to visit. For a more detailed History of Uvalde County check out The Handbook of Texas Online.

So there you have it, the history of Uvalde County and the town of Uvalde, Texas.  Below is the picture of our family under the Uvalde sign, taken while on vacation at the Frio River July 2013.

13.1 #2 Complete

Well this past weekend, 4/7/13, I completed my second half marathon, Angie's Half Crazy! Half Marathon.  I have to say I am pretty proud of myself and quite frankly surprised I completed it, LOL!  After the LaPorte Half Marathon, I wasn't too sure I would ever do another half marathon again, but I did and I did GREAT!

My time was 3 hours and 16 minutes, which is better than my 3 hours and 36 minutes I finished LaPorte with.  I think these half marathons are addicting.  the mentality is kind of like, well I did one, why stop there, when is the next one?  MORE MORE MORE!

The next couple of runs are some 5k's, one is The Gritty Goddess, a 5k obstacle run, then The Electric Run in June which is just for fun but you wear a bunch of those glow necklaces/bracelets, etc.  The bridge series is coming up in the Fall and I'll sign up for those again and tackle those damn bridges again I'm sure.  Half Marathon #3, here we come, LOL!

Here are some pictures from Angie's Half Crazy! Half Marathon we took:

The awesome Bling!

Me and my girls!

Me...all finished, now it's nap time!

That's it for now, till next time...Keep Calm and go RUN!

13.1 DONE!

Well I did it!  This past Sunday, 12/2/12, i finished my first half marathon.  It was an awesome feeling to cross that finish line.  I tried not to think about it and let it overwhelm me, but I have to say it was VERY emotional to cross the finish line and receive my medals.  I did it!  I RAN/WALKED a freakin' Half marathon.  Sheesh!  It's still kind of surreal in my mind but when i look at the medals and think about it, I am VERY proud of myself and think i want to do it again next year.

Here is a picture of all 4 medals i earned this year for completing the Texas Bridge Series, they are so pretty (and heavy):

The bridge series started with the Kemah Bridge 10k, up and over 4 times, PHEW!  Second was the Galveston Toughest 10k up and over the Galveston Causeway and ended with the LaPorte By the Bay Half Marathon, 13.1 miles with the Fred Hartman Bridge Included in that mileage.

When i got home and finished the half i posted my dedication of these runs on my Facebook page, here it is again:
Well here they are! I finished the half marathon today, it was hard but I did it! This run completed the Texas bridge series of runs, 2 10k's and a half marathon.

I dedicate this series of runs to two very special people. First, my husb
and because without his support i couldnt have done the training and done the runs. Secondly i dedicate these races to my friend Gail Boyes, she encouraged me to join Bay Area Fit and constantly kept telling me I could do it...even on days she couldnt do much. Thanks you Walt and Gail, i love you both.

Also thanks to my family and friends for your awesome support and for cheering me on and putting up with my running posts on FB.
I also ordered a 13.1 bling shirt from a friend of mine who makes them as a business, Nicky Harrington Breaux who owns and operates Bling it Up! Rhinestone Accents made this shirt for me (not a great shot of me, it's hard to take a good picture of yourself with your phone):

Well that's my report for today.  Next is the Santa Hustle 5k run on 12/23/12.  that is a run purely for fun.  I'll post an update and pictures from that fun event.

Thanks everyone for your love and support during this half marathon/marathon training season.  It was a blast!

Running and 13.1

Well let's see since the Space City 10 Miler, the girls and I ran The Color Run and the Bay Area Turkey Trot and had fun doing them both.

This coming weekend, the girls are running the Reindeer run on 12/1/12.  Juliana is doing the 5k and Bella is doing the kids k.  It should be a lot of fun watching them preform.  Sunday 12/2/12, I am running my first half marathon, 13.1 miles, in the LaPorte By the Bay Half Marathon.  I'm very nervous but excited at the same time.  Once i finish this run, not only will I have completed my first half marathon, but I will have completed the Texas Bridge Series of runs...very exciting.  The bling medals are an added bonus to the whole equation.

Okay well that's it for today, I'll be back Monday after the big race to post pictures and give an update!  Have a great weekend everyone!

10 MILES???????????

Yes that's right!  I ran my first 10 Miler run today, 10/14/12.  It was tough, but I finished and i have the medal to prove it.

When I got to mile 6 my legs got heavy and i got tired, my breakfast started wearing off and I was pooped, but i trudged on and continued with my powerade and water and stopped at all the water stations the rest of the way to refuel and I made it!

The fan support from my fellow Bay Are Fitters as well as my Juliana, Sloan, Lauren and Thomas was amazing and helped me keep going!  Thanks to my cheerleaders for the day!

Here is the medal, isn't it pretty?

Next Saturday 10/20/12, I am running the next bridge series 10k and working for this medal.  That bottom part of the medal is a bottle opener, guess what I'll be wearing to parties from now on?  LOL!:

Happy 8th Anniversary My Love!

Well today is our 8th Wedding Anniversary, what a day it was too.  PHEW!  8 years!!! that is awesome and very exciting!  I couldn't ask for a better husband and father than i got in Walt.  He is awesome.  He may drive me nuts sometimes but overall he is a great man, husband and father.  He works his ass off to make sure his family is taken care of and provided for.

He even surprised me today by sending me a dozen pink roses and a box of chocolates at my office.  I was truly surprised by the deliver as i was not expecting anything since we just moved into our new house.

Anyhow what an exciting and very happy 8th anniversary to us!

Here is a picture of us on our wedding day and then a picture of the beautiful pink roses i received.  :-)

Toughest 10k Kemah

Well today I accomplished a goal.  I finished the Toughest 10k Kemah run.  This run entailed going up and over the Kemah bridge 4 times and back to the Kemah boardwalk for the finish line.  I finished and that's what I am most proud of.  my time was 1 hour and 33 minutes and a few seconds.  This time actually turned out good since it is about 3 minutes faster than the 10k I ran in March for the Seabrook Lucky Trails Marathon Relay.

Considering I was unable to workout at all the week before Kemah and was busy moving out of our old house and into our new one, i am VERY proud of myself.  The exciting part is the bling medal i received for finishing, it's so pretty!  I love it.

I am very proud of myself for accomplishing this run for 2012!  Now on to Toughest 10k Galveston...

Almost October 2011

Well looks like I've been a BAD blogger this year, this year has zoomed by and I can't believe it's almost October.  It's been a roller coaster of a year with many happy times, many sad times and many busy busy times as well.  being that it's Fall time we are naturally knee deep in football season and drill team, our last home game is October 22nd and then competition is November 6th. I'm ready for a break and slower schedule.

Juliana is doing awesome in 7th grade and loving band and starting cross country after drill team is over, but is training now and excited that she's already taken over a minute off of her mile time.  LOL!

Bella is kicking butt and taking names in 1st grade and loving it, she is taking GT classes and thriving exceptionally.  She is also in cheer and a true character, she keeps us on our toes.  we are constantly in stitches with her antics.  LOL!

Walt and I work and then do whatever the girls schedule asks us to do, we try to keep up and it's hard but we do it slowly but surely.

Okay back to work, I'll try and do better and keep up a bit.

Here is the latest holiday hostess barbie, isn't she awesome:
